一、膜结构采用以概率理论为基础的极限状态设计方法，用分项系数的设计表达式进行计算。
二、膜结构应根据建筑物的性质和等级、使用年限、使用功能、结构跨度、防火要求、地区自然条件及膜材的耐用年限等要求进行膜材选用。
三、膜结构的设计应根据荷载、支承条件、制作加工、施工工况及其它特殊条件进行。
四、膜结构的设计内容包括形状设计、荷载分析、裁剪设计、配件设计、支承结构设计。
五、对膜结构的形状设计、荷载分析、裁剪设计，应在考虑施工过程的基础上进行一体化的设计。
六、膜材只能承受拉力，不能承受压力和弯矩。
七、膜面的最大主应力应小于膜材的强度设计值，在荷载长期作用下，最小主应力应大于等于维持其初始平衡形状的应力值。
八、膜结构一体化设计时，应考虑膜材的松弛、徐变、老化。
九、膜结构设计时，应考虑使用阶段膜材替换对整体结构的影响。
十、膜结构设计应考虑膜材破坏时，支承结构仍应保持自身的强度、刚度及稳定性。
